Opinion: Many Have Issues, But Few Are Roaming the Streets – Reno Omokri

I thought I had heard all there was to hear until Monday, July 2, 2018 when the Buhari Presidency came down hard on all those opposed to the administration’s cattle colony project. Speaking on a morning show on Africa Independence Television, Femi Adesina, Mr. Buhari’s spokesman said giving land for ranching is better than death! In fact, his exact words were as follows: “Ancestral attachment? You can only have ancestral attachment when you are alive. If you are talking about ancestral attachment, if you are dead, how does the attachment matter?” Going further, Femi Adesina opined thus: “Where you have land and you can do something, please do for peace. What will the land be used for if those who own it are dead at the end of the day?” To give some perspective, Femi is talkin...

Nigeria: Sack Adeosun Now for NYSC Certificate Forgery – PDP

The People's Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Buhari to immediately sack the Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun over the alleged NYSC certificate forgery. Adeosun had recently been accused of not going through the mandatory one-year Youth Service Scheme and had, many years after graduating, forged a certificate of exemption. Speaking on the issue, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the party called on the President not to provide cover for the embattled minister. In a statement issued on Saturday, he said "The world can now see how the Buhari Presidency has been concealing sharp practices under it. We can now see why there is humongous corruption under President Buhari’s watch and why Mr. President has refused to take any concrete steps to check th...

Before the game, we wanted to be here another week. It’s up to us now which games we play in. I’m so proud of what all of the staff and players have done. We played an opponent whose identity is clear and whose togetherness has at times been too much for us to h...

As 2019 approaches, the main opposition party, PDP and over 40 other parties have agreed to join forces to oust Buhari. While these parties are not merging to form a single party, they are simply trying to come together to produce one candidate who will contest against Buhari. The parties are currently meeting to harmonize their positions and possibly reach working arrangements. Explaining the modality being employed in this coming together, the National Chairman of one of the parties said "What we have is not a merger, but a coalition of over 42 registered political parties coming together to challenge the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration. The parties have voluntarily come together on their own to save Nigeria from its present challenges. "We plan to form a Government of ...

"I like to reach my goals like everybody else but I don’t look at this from a personal perspective. My pride is related to the entire group and here I want to mention my techni...

World Cup: Sweden Triumph 1:0 Over Switzerland

Sweden triumphed 1:0 over their fellow European representative after a keenly contested match. After having played out a goalless first half, a 66th minute goal by Forsberg was enough to secure the win for Sweden. https://youtu.be/012FkPcI1uE After the match, the Swizz coach, Vladimir Petkovic voiced his disappointment. He said "We're sorely disappointed, the whole team is. We clearly wanted to do more. But we also congratulate the Swedish team as they have done precisely what they are very good at, and it has been enough to beat us. Once they score a goal, they're an extremely tough nut to crack. We should have done better but were simply below par and not good enough to win the game. There was something missing in that match from us but in all the games Sweden have been involved in...
