Nigeria: Gov. Samuel Ortom Defects from APC
Benue state governor Samuel Ortom has defected from the APC. Ortom announced his departure from the party on Sunday at the government house while he was swearing in his new Special Adviser on Local Government and Cheftaincy Affairs, Jerome Torshimbe.
According to the governor, APC had given him the red card, leaving him outside the pitch. He said "I’ve been given the red card and I’m now outside the pitch. So, if I have been given the red card and I’m standing outside, that means I’m a free man."
He however did not disclose which party he was moving over to. He simply said "I don’t know what will happen next, but I’m waiting. If others approach me, then I will tell the Benue people that I’m joining another football club."
