African Youth for Development Commission (AYDEC) on Tuesday called on the United Nations, African Union Commission, Diplomatic Peace Organization, African Leaders and especially the Governments of Nigeria and South-Africa to swiftly swing into action by stepping up pragmatic measures towards putting a definite STOP to these repulsive acts leading to killings of Africans on African soil.
This contained in a statement signed by Lateef Oladimeji Salaam, Continental Head. Saying the leadership of African Youth for Development Commission (AYDEC) is seriously perturbed and has noted with disdain and hurtful amazement the recent attacks of Africans by Africans in South-Africa.
According to him, the height of disgust, enmity and repugnance which some South-Africans had recently displayed against their fellow Africans, mostly Nigerians, is not just unexpected but condemnable and should be condemned by all well-wishers of peaceful coexistence and stability in Africa and the world at large.
“It is pathetic that since this persistent xenophobic attacks heightened earlier this year, several Nigerians and other African Nationals in their numbers had been unjustly killed, businesses ruined, properties worth millions of dollars destroyed and diplomatic activities interrupted. The negative toll of this heart harken occurrence on Africans and Africa is worrisome and calls for global attention.
“It is high time we realized that Africa is ours and we are Africans; nothing more can best define our shared core values of oneness, unity, strong will for mutual and diplomatic ties.
“Consequently we at AYDEC Headquarters call on the United Nations, African Union Commission, Diplomatic Peace Organizations, relevant global/ continental authorities, African Leaders and especially the Governments of Nigeria and South-Africa to swiftly swing into action by stepping up pragmatic measures towards putting a definite STOP to these repulsive acts leading to killings of Africans on African soil.
“We strongly believe that an immediate diplomatic action is highly and timely required, in order to forestall reprisals which might be devastating for the utmost growth and development of Africa.
“We also call for calmness and mutual understanding from all aggrieved persons for whatsoever reasons, across Africa, he said
The group urged the Governments of South-Africa and Nigeria should as a matter of urgency actively mobilize Police and Military Forces to ensure protection of lives and properties across board.
‘We can’t afford to see our golden heritage burn and our garment of pride as the great black race torn. Every African should be ultimately concerned about this unethical happening. We condemn it wholesomely and seek for immediate redress towards strategic diplomatic cohesion.
