Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu, has embarked on a trip to France for medical reasons, according to sources. This journey comes on the heels of his visit to Saudi Arabia for the World Economic Forum, raising questions about his health and the transparency of official communication regarding his travels.
Investigations by SaharaReporters reveal that President Tinubu left Saudi Arabia for London, England, on Tuesday, before proceeding to France on Thursday. The purpose of his trip to France, which was not officially disclosed by the Presidency, is reported to be for medical consultations with his doctors.
A Nigerian presidential aircraft, identified as a Gulfstream Aerospace GV-SP (G550), with registration number 5N-FGW and serial number 5310, was used to transport Tinubu to Paris Airport-Le Bourget, France. The aircraft arrived in France around 04:00 pm on Thursday, originating from an airport in London.
“The President is in France to see his doctors,” a source said.
The sequence of events began with Tinubu’s departure from Saudi Arabia, where he attended the World Economic Forum. A statement issued by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity had indicated that Tinubu would proceed to the Netherlands before attending the forum in Riyadh. However, details about his return to Nigeria after the forum were omitted from the statement.

Efforts to obtain clarification from the Presidency regarding Tinubu’s travel itinerary were unsuccessful, as officials declined to comment on the matter. Despite the lack of official confirmation, sources within the Nigerian Air Force confirmed that the presidential aircraft used for the trip to London and subsequently to France was indeed transporting President Tinubu.
Tinubu’s health has been a subject of concern in recent years, with reports of multiple medical trips abroad for various treatments and surgeries. He has been known to seek medical care in France, the United States, and the United Kingdom, prompting speculation about his well-being among Nigerians.
In light of the President’s unreported medical trip to France, questions have been raised about the transparency of official communications regarding his health and travel activities. With Tinubu’s one year in office looming, concerns about his fitness to assume office have once again come to the forefront, underscoring the need for greater openness and accountability from the Presidency.
“We need to know the state of health of our President. It’s concerning that such important information is being withheld from the public,” said a concerned citizen.
