President Muhammadu Buhari has received the report of a preliminary investigation conducted on the attack and release of some terror suspects in the Kuje prison, Abuja.

Recall that gunmen in their numbers carried out a jailbreak on the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kuje, eliciting widespread condemnation from members of the public.

Shortly after the jailbreak, the Islamic State’s West Africa Province, ISWAP, took responsibility for the attack and backed its claim with footage of the incident.

Scores of terror suspects and other dangerous criminals were freed, with several of them still on the run. A manhunt is still ongoing.

Rauf Aregbesola, Minister of Interior, disclosed on Thursday that the report of an investigation on the attack has been sent to the President.

The Minister spoke to newsmen after a meeting of the National Security Council at the villa, Abuja.

He said, “A preliminary report on what happened in Kuje has been sent to the President. We have identified all those whose actions or inaction led to that unfortunate incident.

“Those who shirked their responsibility will face the consequences of their action. A comprehensive report will come at the end of the investigation”.
