The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has alerted Nigerians about the existence of a false online site asking people to enroll for their permanent voter card (PVC).
The Commission had already announced that voter registration would end on the 31st of July but barely 24 hours after the suspension of voter registration, a fake online portal claimed the government has approved the registration of PVC online.
The Commission said the site is not linked to INEC, saying the portal is not authentic and from a fraudulent source.

INEC also reminded Nigerians that the commission is the one responsible for organizing, undertaking, and monitoring national elections and it doesn’t share such responsibilities with any other body or organization.
INEC advised the public not to fall victim to online scammers as the commission has already concluded the exercise of the continuous voter registration and will not need to operate another site to register voters.
