Christians Didn’t Do Enough To Win APC Presidential Ticket – Oshiomhole

Adams Oshiomhole, former Edo State Governor has accused Christians in the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, of not doing enough to support a Christian emerge as the presidential candidate during the primary.

The former APC national chairman accused some Christians in the party of working against the ambition of APC presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu, ahead of the 2023 election.

According to Oshiomhole, the criticisms against the party’s Muslim-Muslim ticket were uncalled for.

Oshiomhole during an interaction with journalists in Abuja on Thursday said Nigeria’s issues were beyond religious differences.

The Edo ex-governor described the position of critics to the emergence of Senator Kaskim Shettima as Tiubu’s running mate as blackmail.

He said “Those leading the campaign in the APC family – if they were such believers in Christianity – had the opportunity to canvass for votes for one of the Christian candidates.

“But they were on record as having led the campaign on the side of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, knowing very well that he is a Muslim.

“The issues we have to spend time discussing is what will any of the presidential candidates do differently, not what will a Christian or Muslim do.”

The APC stalwart disagreed with the notion that Christians were persecuted in Nigeria. he based his stance on a lack of evidence.

He added, “I don’t think they bothered to show the evidence and yet we have not just a Christian Vice-President, we have a pastor, a senior advocate”.
