Terrorists Kidnap 50 Persons in Niger State

Terrorists have reportedly kidnaped fifty persons in Kuchi, Munya Local Government Area in Niger State.

News sources report that the armed terrorists invaded the town at 2 am on Friday and kidnapped about 50 persons while it was raining.

According to the Daily Post, the terrorists are trapped at a nearby Dangunu River as they tried to escape with the abductees. The terrorists were trapped due to the overflown banks of the Dangunu River.

Sani Abubakar Yusuf Kokki, confirmed the incident, saying that the number of persons abducted was estimated to be fifty, although there is no detailed casualty report.

Kokki urged that the law enforcement agencies should come to their aid and help them battle these terrorists.

“Reinforcement is immediately needed at the moment to fiercely engage them at their exit route where they are currently stranded. Mobilize able-bodied vigilantes to the scene for a gunfire encounter” he said

The state Commissioner for Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Bagna, also confirmed the incident, adding that security agents have already responded to the residents’ call.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Wasiu Abiodun, who spoke on the incident, said that nine persons were abducted when armed terrorists attacked the village.

He also disclosed that policemen and vigilantes are strategically positioned in the area and are currently trailing the armed bandits.
