Bandits Contact Kaduna School, Confirm Abduction of 121 Students

Bandits who invaded Bethel Baptist High School Kaduna have confirmed having 121 students in captivity barely 30 hours after they struck. President Kaduna Baptist Conference and Proprietor of Bethel Baptist High school, Kaduna Rev. Yahaya Jangado disclosed this to newsmen on Tuesday evening after a meeting of the management and parents of the abducted students. Rev Jangado said though the bandits called and allowed the school management to speak with few of the abductees, they were yet to demand for ransom. He said on Monday morning they received a distress call bandits invaded the school and on hearing the news they alerted security agencies to come to their rescue and they responded.

Open Grazing Ban: Sanwo-Olu Receives 16 Southern Governors in Lagos

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has started receiving 16 of his colleagues from Southern Nigeria. According to several media reports, the governor arrived at Alausa, Ikeja, the venue of their meeting on the state of the nation. The meeting is holding eight weeks after the governors met in Asaba, the Delta State capital, on May 11, 2021. At the meeting, the governors would further assess decisions taken in Asaba on the open grazing ban, restructuring, fiscal federalism and the call for state police. Bandits Kidnap Students in Kaduna, Two Soldiers Feared Dead

Bandits in the early hours of Monday attacked another school in Kaduna, whisking away an unspecified number of students. They attacked Bethel Secondary School in Maramara, Chikun Local Government Area on the outskirts of the Kaduna State capital. Kaduna Police Command could not immediately confirm the number of students abducted. It however said a joint security team comprising the Police, Army and others rescued 17 of the abducted students. Nigerian Army Changes Boko Haram War Codename to Hadin Kai

The Nigerian Army has disclosed that the war against Boko Haram in the North-East has been renamed Operation Kadin Kai from Operation Lafiya Dole. The change was approved by the Chief of the Army Staff, Lt Gen Ibrahim Attahiru, in a statement issued on Friday, noting it would fortify the fight against insurgency, SaharaReporters reports. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has imposed night curfew on  the borders Rivers shares with Abia, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa and Imo states, following recent attacks and killings of security operatives  by  gunmen. Gunmen suspected to be bandits have abducted 77 persons at Libere village in the Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna state. The incident reportedly occurred on Wednesday, April 21. According to AIT, village head of neighbouring Kalla, Aminu Na’Iri who confirmed the incident said eight members of a family, including the wife and children are among the abducted persons.
