JAMB Extends UTME Registration By Two Weeks

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board yesterday said the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination and Direct Entry earlier slated for June 3 will now commence from June 19 to July 3. The board also announced a two-week extension for candidates to register. The registration exercise will end on May 29. The board also said the Mock UTME earlier scheduled for 20th May will now hold on June 3. The board stated these in a communique issued at the end of a two-day meeting in Abuja. The communique was read by the Registrar of JAMB, Prof Is-haq Oloyede on Saturday. The registrar said only 1,134,424 candidates (UTME+DE) have so far been registered. JAMB May Shift UTME Date – Oloyede

The possibility of shifting the date for the 2021 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) is very high, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said yesterday. The Registrar of the board, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, said during a virtual meeting with 2021 UTME Committee members that  over 600,000 candidates who indicated interest  in sitting for the exams, were yet to register. The exam is scheduled for between June 5 and June 19. He said the candidates were finding it difficult to register due to the challenges of National Identification Number (NIN). ASUU Commences Consultation with Members

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has started consultations with all of its members to confirm the status of the industrial action. According to The Nation, the National President of the union, Prof Biodun Ogunyemi confirmed this in an interview. Ogunyemi said: “We are consulting with our organs. When we have new information we will share it. “We are reporting back to the government on Friday. WAEC to Release 2020 SSCE Results on Monday November 2nd 2020

The West African Examinations Council has disclosed that the results of the 2020 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination would be released on Monday, November 2, 2020. While giving an update on Sunday, WAEC tweeted, “This is to inform candidates that sat West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) for School Candidates, 2020 that the results of that exam will be released by @waecnigeria tomorrow, Monday, November 2, 2020 by 10:30am.”

The United Nations (UN) cautions that Africa and the rest of the world could witness a “generational catastrophe” due to the closure of schools around the world amid the COVID-19 scare. This was disclosed by U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in a communique. Reports suggest as at mid-July, at least 160 countries had closed their schools keeping more than 1 billion students at home while at least 40 million children have missed out on pre-school.
