SSANU, NASU Call Off Strike

The Non-Academic Staff Union of Education and Associated Institutions, NASU, and Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, has announced the suspension of their strike, effectively on Wednesday. This was disclosed by the Joint Action Committee, JAC, of both unions in a statement issued by Mr Peter Adeyem, on Saturday. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, Adeyemi said the decision to suspend the strike was reached after negotiation between the unions and the Federal Government team led by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu. Talks With FG Panel Over Strike Fruitless – SSANU

The Joint Action Committee of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities and Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions has said no tangible achievement was recorded at the Federal Government Renegotiation Panel. Speaking in an interview on Tuesday, the National Vice-President, SSANU, Dr. Abdussobur Salaam, said the panel met only once with SSANU since it was inaugurated on March 7, 2022. SSANU Under Pressure to Resume Suspended Strike

The Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities, SSANU, has said the Federal Government’s failure to fulfil its agreements with the union by the April 30th deadline has put it under pressure to resume the suspended strike. The union lamented that the government had yet to begin payment of the ensuing adjustments for the new national minimum wage and the allowances contained in the earned allowance. IPPIS is a Scam, Fed Govt Deceived Us – NASU Chair

Chairman of the University of Lagos chapter of the Non Academic Staff Union of Universities and Allied Institutions, Mr. Kehinde Ajibade, has described the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) used to pay civil servants as fraudulent.  He accused the Federal Government of deceiving the Union to sign up for it.
