Why I Lost the Senate Presidency – Yari
In a surprising turn of events, former Zamfara State governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, has come forward to accuse fellow senators of betraying him in the race for the Senate Presidency seat. The All Progressives Congress (APC), Yari's political party, had initially chosen Godswill Akpabio from Akwa Ibom as their preferred candidate for the prestigious position.
During the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly on Tuesday, Godswill Akpabio emerged victorious and was sworn in as the Senate President. Akpabio secured an impressive 63 votes, while Yari, unfortunately, fell short with only 46 votes.
