Gov Uzodinma Flags Off ‘Exercise Golden Dawn’ To Tackle IPOB

The Governor of Imo state, Hope Uzodinma flagged off ‘Golden Dawn’, a military exercise aimed at tackling ipob in the state. “It is a well known fact that security of lives and properties are one of the obligations of the Government while it is an established understanding that security is everyone’s business. Tension Rises in South-East, Military Begins Operation Against Killings, Others

The military on Monday began an operation in the South-East as part of efforts to address rising insecurity in the region. The Army indicated this at a press conference in Awka, the Anambra State capital as soldiers and policemen paraded the streets of Owerri, the Imo State capital, in a show of force on Monday. In Enugu, the Enugu State capital,  hoodlums had a field day as they were on the rampage in the process of enforcing the sit-at-home order which the Indigenous People of Biafra said it had suspended. I Didn’t Say Anything About IPOB On Imo, Anambra Killings – Nnia Nwodo

Immediate past President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo has distanced himself from a media publication ascribing to him statements on the killings in Imo and Anambra states. The story, according to Nwodo, had it that he blamed the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, for the killings in the southeast states. But Nwodo in a reaction to the online publication, on Sunday, said it was unfounded, maintaining that he never spoke to anybody on such a controversial issue. He dismissed the story as emanating from mischief makers and urged the general public to ignore it. BREAKING: Late Dora Akunyili’s Husband, Chike Shot Dead

Dr Chike Akunyili, the widower of the late Prof. Dora Akunyili’s has been shot dead by unknown gunmen. A family source confirmed to SaharaReporters that "Chike Akunyili was shot on Tuesday night near Onitsha", the commercial hub of Anambra State. "He went for his late wife's memorial lecture in Onitsha and was going back to Enugu, that was when the thing happened. He was shot dead by gunmen. I don't know how it happened," the source added. Bandits Occupy Farms In Katsina, Force Villagers To Supply Fertilisers

Some farmers in Katsina State have lamented the negative impact of banditry on farming activities in the state. According to them, bandits have stopped them from going to their farms to cultivate food items. The farmers, in an interview with Daily Trust, stated that bandits stormed their farms to either abduct them, kill them or tax them before they could even cultivate on their farms. They further said every household in the Batsarin-Alhaji area had to pay N500 to the bandits from the last farming season. Thereafter, the bandits demanded that the villagers supply them with fertilisers. The villagers had to tax themselves to purchase the fertilisers. The government of Sokoto State has the Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) to direct all telecommunications companies to shut down their services in 14 LGAs in the state. This is coming less than a week after the house of representatives asked the NCC to shut down telecommunication services in three LGAs of Sokoto. In a circular seen by TheCable, the state government had asked Isa Pantami, minister of communications and digital economy, to issue a temporary shutdown of telecommunication networks in some LGAs as a measure to bring an end to banditry and other criminal activities in the state. The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, says it will soon deploy drones at Seme for effective patrol in checking smuggling activities in the border area. NCS Zone A Coordinator, Modupe Aremu, an Assistant Comptroller General, ACG, of Customs, disclosed this on Monday during a working visit to Seme Border Area Command. 10 Bethel Baptist Students Freed, 21 Still In Bandits’ Captive

Bandits released ten students of Bethel Baptist School in Kaduna on Saturday with 21 others still being held captive. The Vice President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (19 Northern States and Abuja) and chairman of CAN in Kaduna State, Rev. John Joseph Hayab, confirmed this to Punch on Saturday evening. He said, “10 students were released this (Saturday) evening and have reunited with their parents.
