World Cup: Brazil Crashes Out, Loses 1:2 to Belgium

The Brazilian team were this evening knocked out at the quarter finals of the World Cup after they lost 1:2 to Belgium. A 13th minute own goal by Fernandinho set the Belgians on course for the win. De Bruyne fired in the second for the Belgians in the 31 minutes, bringing the score to 2:0 which was how the first half ended. In the second half, Brazil made some changes and began to make a greater impact on the game. Their effort was rewarded in the 76th when Augusto nodded in a well placed Coutinho pass. Augusto missed another clear chance to bring the game level, as did Coutinho some minutes later. With this win, Belgium will now face France in the semi finals.

World Cup: England Escapes Narrowly, Wins Colombia on Penalties

England escaped a possible defeat to Colombia after the match went into extra time. The English team had taken the lead in the second half (having played a goalless first half) through a Harry Kane 57th minute penalty. It looked like the English were home and dry until Colombia's tall defender, Mina nodded in an equalizer in the 3rd minute of the 5 minute added time. This took the game into extra time. World Cup: Brazil Edges Out Mexico 2:0 to Advance to the Quarter Finals

The Samba boys beat the Mexican team by 2:0 to advance to the quarter finals of the World Cup. Both teams played out a goalless first half with the Mexicans enjoying more of the ball possession. In the second half, Neymar put Brazil in the lead in the 51st minute while Firmino doubled the lead in the 88 minute. Belgium looked like they were surely on their way out when Japan scored the first two goals of the match in about 7 minutes of the resumption of the second half. This was after the first half ended goalless. Having played a goalless first half, the Japanese came in and shocked the Belgians with two quick goals. The first was scored in the 48 minute by Haraguchi. Inui followed 4 minutes later with the second, stunning Belgians and the rest of the world. World Cup: Croatia Knocks Out Denmark on Penalties

In a match that started with two quick goals - one for each side, there was surprisingly no other goals. After Jorgensen scored for the Danes in the very 1st minute of the game and Croatia equalized barely 3 minutes later through Mandzukic, more goals were expected by the fans but this was not to be. Ronaldo has joined Messi in the exit party as Portugal lost 1:2 to Uruguay. Uruguay took an early lead through a Cavani header off a Suarez cross. Though Portugal enjoyed a much greater possession of the ball, they could not do much with it. In the 55th minute, Pepe headed in the equalizer for Portugal and the game appeared set for fireworks.
