Nigeria: Constitutional Force Majeure Proclaimed Over A Sovereignty Dispute

19th December 2020 On 16th December 2020, history was being made in Nigeria. On that day, there was an official declaration of Constitutional Force Majeure and demand for an orderly process to deal with the unjust and undemocratic situation in Nigeria of using what is referred to as the 1999 Constitution but that is simply Military Decree 24 in some disguise, and not at all a Constitution in the true sense of that word. This was a Joint Proclamation of a Sovereignty Dispute by Accredited Delegates of Nigerian Indigenous Nationalities of the Southern and Middle Belt Territories of Nigeria. This declaration of Constitutional Force Majeure is the pathway for Unionists seeking the Restructuring of Nigeria back to what we had at Independence, or even better than that; plus, it is also the...

El-Rufai who spoke at public lecture to commemorate the 50th anniversary of Arewa House on Saturday in Kaduna said the restructuring would be profitable to achieving sustaining development. The APC committee on restructuring which was setup to establish the party’s stance on restructuring in 2018 made recommendations for achieving true federalism in a restructured Nigeria. Nigeria: Referendum By Ethnic Nationalities Not Restructuring

So here we are. Sixty years after Independence we are the world’s poorest Black nation. Quoting from Borgen Magazine in August 2020, “Nigeria, a third world country in Africa, is known as the poverty capital of the world. The nation just exceeded India with the largest rate of people living in extreme poverty. In Nigeria, about 86.9 million people live in severe poverty, which is about 50% of its entire population….the nation is failing at lowering the rates of poverty. This is partly due to the mismanagement of the oil business and the presence of corruption. Along with this, the nation is going through a “population boom,” which will make managing poverty rates more difficult. One of the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals is to end extreme poverty by 2050. However, Nigeria’s poverty ra...

Government Won’t Be Pressured into Restructuring Nigeria – Presidency

The Presidency has said that government will not succumb to threats and restructure the country, describing calls for restructuring as unhelpful and unwarranted at a time when the country is battling security challenges and the pandemic. This was contained in a statement by Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity on Sunday. It comes in the wake of call by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, who on Saturday lent his voice to the call to restructure the country, asking President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently restructure the country to save it from breakup. Adeboye had in a conference warned that it was either the country restructure as soon as possible or it broke up. He added that one does not need...

Opinion: Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn As a Game Changer For 2023 by Reno Omokri

A lot has been written about the introduction of the region wide security outfit for the Southwest, known as Àmọ̀tẹ́kùn. Much of it is built around emotions. And as my readers may have noticed, I am not a NICE man. I am a WISE man. I deal with facts. I do not deal in emotions. Nnamdi Kanu is only partly right. Nigeria is definitely not a zoo. But, I must confess that we live in a jungle, and if you do not understand how the food chain works in a jungle, you will soon find yourself at the bottom of that chain, and it is not a pleasant place to be. ‪When you live in a geography where might is right, and 5 percenters are treated like lepers, you cannot afford to be emotional. If a lion feels sorry for gazelles and antelope, it will not only starve, but its offspring will starve with it!...

Biafra: IPOB Threatens to Disrupt Ohanaeze’s Meetings on Restructuring

DESPITE its apology and regrets for disrupting the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, meeting of Igbo leaders in Enugu recently, the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has threatened to disrupt any meeting of Ohanaeze Ndigbo meant to discuss restructuring of Nigeria, or 2019 election, as it insists that Biafra is non-negotiable. IPOB in a statement yesterday, blasted Ohanaeze Ndigbo for sabotage, warning that any meeting organised by Igbo leaders on restructuring and one Nigeria will be disrupted. This is as another pro-Biafra group, Coalition of Biafra Restoration Citizens, declared that its members would actively participate in 2019 election to elect people, who genuinely have the interest of Ndigbo at heart, irrespective of their political affiliations. The group blamed the marg...
