A commissioner commissioner of Women Affairs & Social Development in Kaduna State, Hafsat M Baba, has referred to Prof. Okechukwu Ibeanu as a Biafra-apologist. In a tweet that has sparked off outrage from Nigerians, she said "The unsung hero, in this very anticlimactic turn of events, is our dear Amina Zakari. Following a rumour that INEC might be thinking of postponing the Presidential and house of assembly elections, INEC has come out to refute the rumour. According to Mr. Festus Okoye, a National commissioner in charge of voter education, elections will hold as planned. he called on voters to ignore the rumour and come out for the elections. According to him, the meeting with stakeholders had nothing to do with a possible decision to postpone the elections. He said "Yes we are in a meeting but we have not taken such decision. We are in an election period, and as commissioners we have to meet every time”.

News reaching us has it that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently in a crucial meeting with stakeholders to determine the way forward. It is suspected that the reason for this may not be unconnected with the recent logistic issues INEC has suffered in various states. It will be recalled that some INEC offices had suffered fire incidences that destroyed critical electoral materials. Details of the outcome of the meeting will be made available as they emerge.

In a surprising turn of events a day to the elections, it appears that IPOB has called off its decision to boycott the elections. In a tweet released on Nnamdi Kanu's Twitter handle, the leader of IPOB said the election boycott had been called off. According to him, their preconditions and terms had been met. "Having confirmed this evening that all our preconditions and terms have been met, signed, sealed and delivered; I hereby call-off the election boycott across Biafraland on Feb. 16, 2019. I dedicate this historic victory to the formidable #IPOB family worldwide." It is not clear at this time what these preconditions and terms are and who met them.
