A former aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has said that the All Progressives Congress, APC, Vice-Presidential candidate, Kashim Shettima dressed the way he did to the Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association, NBA, to take the attention of Nigerians away from Bola Tinubu. Omokri in a post on his social media account stated that as a former banker, Shettima had better dress sense but intentionally chose to sway attention with his dress. The ministry denied knowledge of any such plans to proscribe ASUU. ASUU NEC To Make Decision On Strike Sunday

The National Executive Council of the striking Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, will decide on the continuation or suspension of the ongoing industrial action on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Reports say the meeting is expected to take place at the union’s national headquarters at the University of Abuja. The decision of the union will be based on reports from different state congresses that are expected to be conducted before then. Recall that ASUU had on February 14, 2022, declared strike over some dispute with the federal government. The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, has lamented the mass exodus of academics from the country’s universities, owing to the lingering strike and government’s inaction. This was disclosed by the President of the union, Emmanuel Osodeke, who stated that several lecturers have resorted to alternative means of livelihood. The Independent National Electoral Committee, INEC, has debunked speculations that it has ditched the electronic transmission of results for the manual collation of results for the 2023 general election.
