Six Dead, Five Unaccounted For As Boat Capsizes In Niger

No fewer than six people have been reported dead after a boat capsized in the Gbara area of Mokwa Local Government Area, LGA, in Niger State. A statement issued by the Niger State Emergency Management Agency, NSEMA, on Saturday stated that five people are still missing. Th mishap occurred on Friday evening when the boat which was carrying 48 passengers was on its way back from Danchitagi village market in Lavun LGA to Gbara village. According to the NSEMA, the accident was caused by heavy downpour, accompanied by windstorm. Terrorists Kidnap 50 Persons in Niger State

Terrorists have reportedly kidnaped fifty persons in Kuchi, Munya Local Government Area in Niger State. News sources report that the armed terrorists invaded the town at 2 am on Friday and kidnapped about 50 persons while it was raining. According to the Daily Post, the terrorists are trapped at a nearby Dangunu River as they tried to escape with the abductees. The terrorists were trapped due to the overflown banks of the Dangunu River. Abducted Niger APC Chairman Rescued

The abducted All Progressives Congress (APC) Zone ‘C’ Chairman in Niger State, Alhaji Aminu Musa Bobi, has been rescued. His rescue is coming a day after the Niger State Commissioner of Information; Alhaji Mohammed Idris Sani was released by his abductors. Gunmen Kidnap Pupils from Islamic School in Niger State

Scores of pupils were yesterday abducted from Salihu Tanko Islamiyya School, Tegina, Niger State. The Niger State government and the Police Command, which confirmed the incident, did not specify the number of the pupils that were kidnapped. Residents however, put the number at over 200. The Islamic school, located near the Tegina Police Station in Rafi Local Government Area, was established by a retired immigration officer. Yesterday’s abduction came barely 24 hours after the 15 Greenfield varsity students and three members of staff were released by their abductors after collecting N180 million and eight motorcycles.
