Nigeria: President Speaks at the International Criminal Court (ICC) Hague

Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari was invited by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Hague to deliver the keynote address. This is to mark the court's 20th anniversary celebration. According to the Nigerian ambassador to the Netherlands, Oji Ngofa, the invitation extended to President Buhari to deliver the keynote address was a sign of the court's respect for Nigeria. It will be recalled that this year, a Nigerian, Chile Eboe-Osuji was elected President of the ICC. Nigeria: Ekiti Elections – Party Agents Arrested for Sharing Money at Polling Stations

Security operatives arrested at least five party agents who were sharing monetary incentives at different polling stations in the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti today. Some of them were arrested at Jonathan memorial School, Ajilosun in Ado Ekiti. Two gubernatorial candidates had raised alarm, accusing APC and PDP agents of openly sharing money without any intervention by security operatives. According to Bisi Omoyeni, the candidate for Mega party, people were being openly given money to vote. He said "some political parties had been buying votes by giving money to voters openly.but said he was confident of winning despite this because he was the best of all the candidates. The Kogi West Elders’ Forum of the PDP has rejected having Senator Dino Melaye as the party's flag bearer for his senatorial district. The group said it will vehemently reject all attempts at foisting Melaye on them. Seven men of the Nigerian Police Force have been reportedly gunned down by unknown armed attackers this afternoon at Abuja. The incident is said to have taken place at the Galadimawa Junction, off the International Airport Road. As at the time of filing this report full details of the incident was not yet known. Nigeria: Over 50 Cars Burnt and at Least 9 Dead as Tanker Explodes in Lagos

No fewer than 50 cars and an as yet unknown number of person were engulfed in an inferno in Lagos this evening. The occurrence which was said to have occurred at about 6pm resulted from a tanker explosion which eye witnesses said occurred as the tanker was attempting to reverse at the Otedola Bridge area of Berger. As at the time of publication, over 50 cars were reported burnt and about 9 persons confirmed dead with others injured. With this announcement, the former governor of Kaduna State and former Senator threw in his hat into the race for the Presidency of Nigeria come 2019. Makarfi made this announcement at a press briefing which took place today Sunday June 17th. He will run under the platform of the People's Democratic Party, bringing the number of known contenders under the party to two. The first being former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.

The Spanish FA today announced the sack of its head coach Julen Lopetegui. The sack of the Spanish coach was a direct outcome of Real Madrid's announcement yesterday. Real Madrid had yesterday named Lopetegui as their new manager. The announcement which took the Spanish FA by surprise was seen as improper. Julen Lopetegui had only three weeks ago, signed a 3-year deal with the Spanish FA. By signing Julen Lopetegui, Real Madrid was going to pay the €2 million buy out clause of his contract with the Spanish FA. Following the rumoured death of the leader of the gang that carried out the Offa robbery that claimed about 33 persons, some Civil Society Organizations have called on the Police to produce him or face legal action. The leader of the gang, Michael Adikwu who is a former Police officer was rumoured to have been shot by the Police in custody as a means of getting confessions from the others.
