As the Bayelsa State chapter of the People's Democratic Party goes in for its primaries today, Senator Ben-Murray Bruce has decided not to contest to return to the Senate. According to the senator, his decision not to run was to honour the rotational arrangement existing in the 3 local governments that make up his senatorial district. The Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday said it reviewed the world press conference held by the Governor of Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, and surmised that the governor validated its position that the All Progressives Congress allegedly consists of those it described as fraudsters and election riggers. Governor Ambode had in the press conference stated that his opponent in the race, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, was arrested for spending fake dollars in the United States of America. Nigeria: Ras Kimono’s Wife Dies Three Months After His Death

Efemena Okedi, the wife of late Raggae artiste, Chux Ohai, aka Ras Kimono, is dead. The death of the 42-year-old is coming three weeks after her husband was buried. Ras Kimono had slumped at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Saturday, June 9, 2018, and died the following day at a Lagos hospital. The Under Pressure crooner was aged 60. PUNCH Metro gathered that Okedi attended a family function on Saturday. She reportedly complained of a chest pain on Sunday and was rushed to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where she died. Many major cities in the South-East were almost ghost towns today as there was a massive compliance with IPOB's sit-at-home order. Major roads, markets and motor parks were deserted. Commercial operations were non existent. Even the usually busy Niger bridge was deserted as no vehicular or human traffic was visible. IPOB claims that the order received 70% compliance while the Police in Anambra claims otherwise. In Anambra the order was totally complied with in Onitsha and Nkpor. Nigeria's embattled Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has reportedly resigned. There is currently no official statement to this effect, however, indications are that she has indeed resigned. It will be recalled that for over two months now, she has been the subject of a forgery scandal to which the federal government refused to comment. Earlier this week, the FG however said the matter was being investigated. It is not clear if this is the result of the investigation. We shall keep you informed as fresh information emerges.
