ASUU: Why We Paid Lecturers Half Salaries – FG

The Federal Government has said that it applied pro-rata to determine the half salaries paid to university lecturers under the umbrella of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.   This was contained in a statement by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, noting that ASUU members cannot be paid for work not done. UNICEF Condemns Abduction Of 21 Schoolchildren In Katsina

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, has kicked against the abduction of 21 children abducted by terrorists in the Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State and asked for their immediate release. UNIJOS ASUU Issues Order To Lecturers Amid Payment Of Half Salary

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, University of Jos chapter, has directed its members to halt teaching indefinitely, pending the payment of withheld salaries by the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration. Emirates Airline Suspends Flights To Nigeria

Emirates Arline has suspended flight operations to Nigeria due to its inability to send home funds stuck in the country. This was contained in a statement the airline issued on Thursday. The statement added that the suspension became effective on October 29, 2022. This marks the second time the airline will stop flights to Nigeria over its $85 million revenue, with the first coming in August 2022. It follows the inability of foreign airlines to send home their revenue of over $500 million. President Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana has said that the country’s inflation increased by an estimated five-fold since 2019. He stated this while commenting on the state of the country’s economy recently. The President said that not just Ghana, but the whole world has been affected by the pace at which inflation has impacted on the income of citizens.
