‘I Will Die A Hero’ Says Kano Cleric Sentenced To Death For Blasphemy

A cleric, Abduljabbar Nasiru-Kabara, has been found guilty of blasphemy by a Kano Upper Shari’a court. He was charged over alleged blasphemous comments against Prophet Muhammad. The charges were brought against him by the government of Kano State. According to prosecution counsel, Suraj Sa’eda, the defendant committed the offence on August 10, October 25 and December 20, 2019. Police Nabs Man Bathing With Blood In Ogun

Officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State have nabbed a 49-year-old man, identified as Ganiyu Shina, for allegedly bathing with blood at a community river in Kotopo, Odeda Local Government Area of the State. Police arrested the suspect on Thursday at 4, Oguji Street, Obantoko, Abeokuta. This was confirmed by SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer, in a statement issued on Thursday. Second Niger Bridge To be Opened For 30 Days

The Federal Government has directed the opening of the Second Niger Bridge for use during the yuletide to ear traffic in the South-East region. The bridge was formerly opened in the late hours of Thursday. The Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, who issued the directive on Wednesday at the inauguration of the bridge, stated that it will be opened for a period of one month during the festive period. Fashola said that the bride will be shut down to traffic on January 15, 2023. The minister asked motorists that will be plying the bridge to be cautious so as not to defeat the purpose of constructing the bridge. Justice Ibrahim Yusuf of the Kwara State High Court sentenced two students, identified as Abdulazeez Ismail and Ajala Olawatimileyin, to death by hanging for the murder of Blessing Olajide, a 300-level undergraduate of the University of Ilorin. 439 Foreign-trained Doctors Failed Competence Exam – MDCN  

A total of 439 foreign-trained medical and dental graduates failed the assessment examination organised by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN). The MDCN conducted the two-day assessment examination on November 23 and 24, 2022, at Usman Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto. This was stated by Dr Tijani Sanusi, the council’s Registrar, in an interview with Punch on Sunday. According to Sanusi, 916 foreign-trained medical and dental candidates took the assessment examination but only 477 candidates were successful.
