Police Officer Shoots Lagos Lawyer Dead On Christmas Day

A policeman whose identity wasn't disclosed attached to the Lagos police command has shot dead a female lawyer identified as Bolanle Raheem. The incident reportedly took place on Sunday morning in the Ajah area of the State. Reports say the incident took place when the deceased and her family were on their way back from Christmas service. The car conveying them was stopped by some officers attached to the Ajiwe police station in Ajah. One of the officers reportedly shot at the car and the bullet hit the lawyer. The police officers were reported to have fled the scene immediately after the incident. The lawyer was allegedly rushed to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Gboyega Oyetola, the immediate past Osun State Governor, his wife, Kafayat Oyetola, and other former aides have been asked to return without delay, official vehicles in their possession. The directive was issued by the Asset Recovery Panel of the Osun State Government on Friday in Osogbo, the State capital. The directive was contained in a statement signed by Olawole Rasheed, the spokesperson to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke. Court Remands Lawyer After Fraud Suspect Jumps Bail

An Ajah Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State has remanded a 42-year-old lawyer, Nzeteh Reagan, in the Ikoyi Custodial Centre for failing to account for the whereabouts of a suspect, Simon Odeh, accused of N16m fraud.   Magistrate O.M. CBN Reviews Cash Withdrawal Limit After Criticism

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, has reviewed the maximum weekly cash withdrawal limit across all channels by individuals and corporate oganisations to N500,000 and N5 million, respectively. This is contained in a statement issued by the bank’s Director of banking supervision department, Haruna Mustafa, on Wednesday. This comes two weeks after the apex bank reduced the weekly over-the-counter cash withdrawal limit for individuals to N100,000 and that of corporate organisations to N500,000. Recall that the CBN also reduced withdrawals at automated teller machines, ATMs, and point-of-sale terminals to N20,000 per day. 231,900 PVCs Yet To Be Collected In Gombe – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has said that not less than 231,900 Permanent Voter Cards were pending collection in Gombe State. The Residential Electoral Commissioner in the State, Umar Ibrahim, disclosed this during a briefing at the Commission’s office on Wednesday, noting that the figure was valid as of Tuesday. Ibrahim stated that the figure of PVCs pending collection was based on the previous registration for the 2019 elections, asking the registrants to ensure they collect their PVCs to vote in the 2023 elections.
