ASUU Strike: Unease As Electricity Workers Declare Readiness To Join NLC Protest

Power sector workers have declared readiness to join the protest scheduled by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, to persuade the federal government to resolve the lingering strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU. The workers under the auspices of the National Union of Electricity Employees, NUEE, confirmed its readiness in a memo issued by its General Secretary, Joe Ajaero, after a meeting of the central working committee and national working committee. According to the memo, all members were directed to “massively mobilise and actively participate in the NLC/ASUU solidarity protest”. ASUU Strike: Aviation Union Set To Shut Down Airports

Abdulrasaq Saidu, the General Secretary of the Association of Nigeria Aviation Professionals, ANAP, says the group will join the protest scheduled by the Nigerian Labour Congress, NLC, to demand an end to the lingering ASUU strike and those of other university workers. Saidu urged President Muhammadu Buhari to take measures to bring an end to the more than five months long strike, noting that it has led to an increase in social vices across the country.
