Excessive Fast Can Damage Kidney, NAFDAC Warns

Prof Mojisola Adeyeye, the Director-General of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has warned that excessive fast can cause kidney problems. The NAFDAC DG stated this on Monday while interacting with journalists in Abuja, noting that using substandard, unwholesome products can equally lead to kidney failure and death. Recall that kidney failure occurs when your kidneys can no longer properly filter your blood. This leads to accumulation of toxins in your blood. The President of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology, Dr Adanze Asinobi, said that about 869 million globally are suffering from kidney problem and in Nigeria, there is an increasing prevalence of the disease. NAFDAC Raises Alarm Over Suspected Fake Augmentin

The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has cautioned Nigerians against suspected fake Augmentin 625mg Tabs in circulation in the country. The agency said the product did not meet up with the labeling requirements.   The alert which was signed by the management of NAFDAC and titled ‘NAFDAC Alert And Sensitization of the Public on Suspected Falsified Augmentin 625mg’ was uploaded on the agency’s website. Stop Patronizing Herbal Concoctions From Hawkers – NAFDAC

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, (NAFDAC) has warned Nigerians against patronizing hawkers who sale herbal concoctions. The NAFDAC DG Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, said the herbal concoctions starts growing bacteria if kept for four to five days. She also said that even though the herbal concoctions have some medicinal properties, the bacteria can still be harmful to human health and possible kill the person if taken. She added that some herbal medicines works, but they need to go through proper research to determine the level people can consume it.
