Sports: Nigerian Coach, Salisu Yusuf Caught on Video Receiving Bribe

Assistant coach of the Super Eagles and current coach of the Nigerian team to the 2020 Olympics was caught on camera taking bribe to feature certain players. The Video which was Ghanaian investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas showed Yusuf being paid about $1000 with a promise of more financial incentives should the players be selected. Salisu Yusuf currently earns about N3 Million monthly which amounts to about $8,300. Nigeria: Bukola Saraki’s Convoy Blocked by the Police

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, this morning had his convoy intercepted and blocked by the Nigerian Police. He was on his way to honour the invitation extended to him by the Police to appear before it this morning by 8am. The Senate President had last night released a statement indicating that the Police sent a letter to him by 8pm, requesting that he reports to the Force Headquarters by 8am this morning. It is therefore not clear at this time why his convoy was blocked on his way to honour the invitation. According to Olu Onemola and Bamikole Omisore who are both aids to the Senate President, he is being held back from honouring the invitation. Nigeria: All these Concoctions and Evil Plots Cannot Deter Me – Saraki

Reacting to the letter again sent to him by the Police this night, inviting him to appear by 8am tomorrow (24th July 2018), Senate President, Bukola Saraki has said among other things that the concoctions and evil plots will not deter him. In a statement released on his Facebook page, he noted that the Police had corrupted and politicized their investigations into the Offa robbery incident. He said "They have turned it into an instrument for the party in power to suppress perceived opponents, witch hunt issue for blackmailing people from freely choosing which platform on which they want to pursue their ambitions and a matter for harassing the people whose exit from APC would harm the chances of the party in the forthcoming elections." Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has made a U-turn on his decision to leave the ruling party APC. His decision came after he met with the party's new chairman Adams Oshiomole. Nigeria: Suspected Kidnappers of Chibok Girls Paraded By the Police

The Nigerian Police today paraded eight men who are suspected to have been part of the kidnapping of the Chibok girls. The eight suspects were part of a group of 22 men paraded by the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Damian Chukwu. According to Mr Chukwu, the 22 men that were paraded were members of the Boko Haram sect and were responsible for various crimes including the kidnapping of the Chibok girls and over 50 suicide bombings. The Commissioner praised the Inspector General of Police (IGP)’s Intelligence Response Team (IRT) led by DCP Abba Kyari, saying it was their act of gallantry that led to the successful arrest of the suspects. The Minister of State for Aviation, Hadi Sirika today Wednesday the 18th of July unveiled the name and logo of the long awaited Nigerian carrier - Nigeria Air. This happened at the Farnborough International Airshow in London. Speaking at the event, the Minister noted that this was not a social service but a private sector driven initiative. Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari was invited by the International Criminal Court (ICC) Hague to deliver the keynote address. This is to mark the court's 20th anniversary celebration. According to the Nigerian ambassador to the Netherlands, Oji Ngofa, the invitation extended to President Buhari to deliver the keynote address was a sign of the court's respect for Nigeria. Benue state governor Samuel Ortom has defected from the APC. Ortom announced his departure from the party on Sunday at the government house while he was swearing in his new Special Adviser on Local Government and Cheftaincy Affairs, Jerome Torshimbe. According to the governor, APC had given him the red card, leaving him outside the pitch. He said "I’ve been given the red card and I’m now outside the pitch. Popular Nigerian Pastor, Chris Okotie has officially declared his intention to contest for the 2019 Presidency. Speaking in his Church today, he said his decision was based on the obvious need for intelligent and capable leadership in the country. He added that it was time to save the Nigerian dream from further worsening.
