This revelation is coming on the heels of Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta's scheduled visit to the White House. A Tribute to My Namesake – Senator John Sidney McCain III.

“Who is that?” He asked with feigned shock etched vividly on his face. “That White Man over there!” she said pointing at me. I looked up from my desk to find one finger and about 10 pairs of astounded eyes in my direction. I chuckled, especially at the reference to me as ‘that white man’. Anybody who knows me knows that the only white things about my appearance are my teeth and eyes, the others are ‘very African’. Lol . . . It turns out that the lady who had referred to me as a white man did so because of my support for Sen McCain during the US presidential campaign in 2008 between Barack Obama and John McCain. My support for the American senator was so strong that it earned me the nickname ‘McCain’ in Airtel Nigeria at the time (especially amongst my fellow staff bus mates), so m...

Opinion: How Jonathan Fought Corruption more Effectively than Buhari Has Ever Done – Aribisala

It is necessary to remind Nigerians that the biggest institutional attacks on corruption in Nigeria came under the PDP. EFCC, ICPC and the Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit (NFIU) were all created by the PDP. Building institutions is always far better than propaganda. Goodluck Jonathan addressed the issue of corruption in this manner. He attempted to remove the big institutional corruption represented by the petroleum subsidy. But this was rejected by Nigerians at the instance of Tinubu and Buhari. As a matter of fact, Buhari maintained there was no petroleum subsidy. To quote him, he asked: “Who is subsidizing who?” Jonathan sanitised the banking system. With the introduction of the Government Integrated Financial Management System (GIFMS), physical movement of cash in the maki...

General Tukur Yusuf Buratai before the International Criminal Court (ICC) for successfully containing the terrorist group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB). The group asked the firm to channel its energy and investigate United States president, George Bush and Barack Obama and leave Nigeria alone. Pasca Ogwola, Coordinator, USA/Canada, NDMG said it is disheartening that some people were unhappy over the proscription of IPOB and its activities. Ogwola said the lawyer was exploring how to make mo...

Record has it that President Obasanjo sacked his IGP Tafa Balogun for corruption. He sacked the then Senate President Adolfus Wabara for corruption. He also sacked his own ministers, Fabian Osuji, S.M Afolabi, Hussein Akwanga, Tim Menakaya, etc for corruption. He also sacked Mrs Mobolaji Osomo for administrative infraction. It is on record that President Jonathan also sacked Stella Odua for corruption. Stella Odua was one of the most powerful ministers in President Jonathan's administration. But when she erred, President Jonathan sacked her. President Jonathan also sacked Mr. Abdulrasheed Maina as the Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reform ...

Opinion: The Desperate Agenda of an Evil Tyrant – Femi Fani-Kayode

Much has been brewing in the circles of power of our nation in recent weeks. Permit me to share some of my findings with my readers today. The rest will come later. Key players and leaders in the international community have warned President Muhammadu Buhari not to run for a second term but he has refused to listen. That is why he was in the United Kingdom for 16 days. He was not ill and he was not getting treatment for any ailment but he was consulting with and trying to convince the representatives of various foreign governnents, including the American, British and French, that he can still run in 2019 and win. My sources have confirmed to me that those he interacted with are not convinced but he has resolved to run regardless of their skepticism. They have asked him to probe...

Opinion: A President Only Deserves a Second Term Because He Can WORK, Not Because He Can WALK – Reno Omokri

arba Sheu This is the response former aid to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri gave to Garba Shehu's claim that President was fit to run for a second term having trekked for 800 meters yesterday. In a series of tweets, Reno said that since he jogs 5 miles daily, he was clearly better suited for the job. He statement read thus: "Garba Shehu says Buhari is good for a 2nd term not because of the economy he gave Nigeria (he wrecked it) not for the security he gave (Nigeria is insecure), not for the jobs he gave Nigeria (we lost 11 million jobs under him). But because he walked 800 meters today. See Also: Nigeria: President Buhari Treks a “Whooping” 800 Meters "Garba Shehu says because Buhari walked for 800 meters today he is ready for a 2nd term. Nigeria: President Buhari Treks a “Whooping” 800 Meters

In an obvious attempt at showing Nigerians and the world that he is indeed fit, President Buhari today trekked the whole of 800 meters home. Buhari had gone to a mosque in his hometown Daura for Eid el-Kabir prayer after which he trekked home. The distance of the mosque to his home is about 800 meters. 800 meters is the about the same as walking up and down the length of a standard football pitch about four times. According to reports from the News Agency of Nigeria, he was cheered on by well wisher with the chant of "sai baba".

Nigeria: The Tinubu Rhetoric – My Response by Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki

I have always restrained from joining issues in the media with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and this is based on my respect for him. However, I will not allow him to create a wrong, false and mischievous impression about the reasons for my decision to exit the All Progressives Congress (APC) and present his prejudice as facts for public consumption. I have been consistent in my complaints to all leaders of the APC, including Tinubu, that a situation where the National Assembly is not constructively engaged or carried along in key policy decisions, particularly those that will eventually require legislative approval, is not in the best interest of the nation. No genuine leader of the legislature will be comfortable that the Presidency will simply write a terse letter to the National Assembl...

Nigeria: President Buhari Returns After 15 Days

President Buhari has returned to the country after spending about 15 days on his 10 day vacation to the UK. It will be recalled that President Buhari left Nigeria on the 3rd of August on what was called a 10-day vacation. It was therefore expected that he will return by the 13th. His failure to return at the expected time started generating rumours regarding the actual reason for his visit to the UK and the state of his health. Announcing his return this evening, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, wrote on his Facebook page "President Buhari returns to Abuja after 10 working days holiday to an enthusiastic reception from Nigerians on 18th August 2018"
