Imo Prison Attack: 6 Inmates Returned, 35 Refused to Escape – Prison Service Chief
The Nigerian Correctional Service has disclosed that six inmates returned voluntarily while 35 others declined to escape from custody after the prison in Owerri, Imo State was attacked by gunmen on Monday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Acting Comptroller-General of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCoS, John Mrabure, signed by the spokesperson for corrections, Francis Enobore.
Mrabure said an extensive investigation has been ordered into the circumstances surrounding the attack and asked the good citizens of Imo state and Nigerians to volunteer useful intelligence to recapture the fleeing inmates.
