Biafra: No to the Proposed Sit-At-Home Order On September 14th by IPOB – Police

Heads of various security agencies in Imo state, Monday said they have adequately garnered their officers to deal with the September 14 sit-at-home declaration by the Indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB. The decision was taken in a joint security meeting at the Imo Police headquarters, in Owerri, which lasted for about an hour. The security agencies include the Imo state commissioner of police, Dazuki Galadanchi, 34 Atillary Brigade Commander, Obinze, H. I Bature, Director of State Security Services, DSS. THE family of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has condemned the Embassy of Switzerland in Abuja for allegedly denying travelling visa to members of the family invited by the United Nations to the 116th United Nations Human Rights Working Group on Enforced and Involuntary Disappearances. According to Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Nnamdi Kanu’s younger brother, the family members were invited by UN as key witnesses of the alleged mass murder committed by the Nigerian security operatives when the family compound was invaded on September 14, 2017, during the Operation Python Dance ll conducted by the Nigerian Army. Following a high-powered meeting of Nigerian security operatives, South-easterners have been directed to ignore the sit-at-home directive issued by IPOB. They are advised to go about their normal business, assuring them of their safety. The Indeginous People of Biafra (IPOB) has declared Ohaneze Ndigbo and the South-East Governors complicit in the recently announced Operation Python Dance 3 by the Nigerian Army. Nigeria: Bukola Saraki’s Convoy Blocked by the Police

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, this morning had his convoy intercepted and blocked by the Nigerian Police. He was on his way to honour the invitation extended to him by the Police to appear before it this morning by 8am. The Senate President had last night released a statement indicating that the Police sent a letter to him by 8pm, requesting that he reports to the Force Headquarters by 8am this morning. It is therefore not clear at this time why his convoy was blocked on his way to honour the invitation. According to Olu Onemola and Bamikole Omisore who are both aids to the Senate President, he is being held back from honouring the invitation. Embattled former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki has been granted bail by an Abuja Federal High Court. In her ruling, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu stated that it was illegal for the defendant to have been held without trial as this violated his fundamental human right. He was therefore granted bail on the following conditions: * His international passport is to remain with the court. * The defendant is to offer a bail bond of N200 million. * He is to provide two other sureties who will stand for the same amount. * Sureties must own landed properties in Abuja, original titles to which must be deposited with the court. * Sureties must be public servants of no less than Grade Level 16 and must provide evidence of last promotion. * If however the sureties are not public servants, t...

Nigeria: Okada Rider’s Death Triggers Mob Attack On Police Station

An angry mob attacked the Ibeshe Police station in Ikorodu, Lagos state on Wednesday following the death of an Okada rider that morning. It was learnt that an Okada rider by the name Paul who hails from Ebonyi state died on Wednesday morning following an accident he had the night before. The Okada rider was said to have been trying to avoid a police checkpoint when he was chased by the police into the gutter. Following the accident, the Police officers were said to have taken the Okada to their station while leaving the Okada rider there in the gutter. The Okada rider was later taken to the hospital by friends and family where he died the next morning.
