109 NYSC Members Test COVID-19 Positive, 17 Admitted

Fears are rife at the various camps of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, across the country, as at least 109 prospective corps members were diagnosed with COVID-19. The NYSC orientation camps were opened at the weekend for Batch B, Stream 1 of this year’s season of the national youth service. The cases were detected following mandatory COVID-19 tests conducted on reporting corps members. The identified cases, our reporters gathered, have been moved to isolation centres in the respective states. The Enugu State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Ikechukwu Obi has disclosed that cholera was behind the deaths of seven persons in the New Artisan Market. Obi also stated that the ministry had transferred 19 others who were infected to the State Teaching Hospital, ESUT-Parklane, for medical care. Nigeria has recorded 40 new cases of COVID-19 on June 2, 2021, with no related death in the daily infection chart.
