Staff of the Public Complaints Commission (PCC) have embarked on a 7 days warning strike to drive home their demand for payment of minimum wage. Staff members staged a protest at the entrance of the commission’s headquarters at Aguiyi Ironsi Street, Maitama Abuja. Comrade Ogah Folorunsho, unit Chairman, Civil Service Union in PCC in an exclusive interview with African News Today, said, “We are protesting the non-implementation of minimum wage and payment of accrued arrears for over seventeen months.” He said though President Muhammadu Buhari assented to the minimum wage Act on 19 April, 2019, the commission is yet to benefit from the payment of the new minimum wage. FCT Doctors Embark on Indefinite Strike, See Reason

The Association of Resident Doctors in the Federal Capital Territory Administration, ARD-FCTA, have embarked on an indefinite strike action from September 1, 2020 to protest unfavourable work conditions. This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the association, Roland Aigbovo and Mustapha Ibrahim. It said the decision was taken due to non-payment of the COVID-19 hazard allowance and the non-implementation of the variation of the 2018 promotion exercise. Cash for Trash Recycle Hub: FCT Launches Waste Management Initiative

Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister of State, Ramatu Tijani has launched a waste management initiative tagged “Cash 4 Trash” recycling hub in Nyanya, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC)as part of effort to rid the city of indiscriminate refuse disposal. The minister while flashing off the project, stated that the scheme was introduced to encourage healthy environment and control erosion in the city, noting that blockage of drainage systems has been the bane of flooding in some parts of the territory.
