APC Convention: Dead Persons, Defectors Make Rivers Delegates — Abe Camp

Senator Magnus Abe’s camp of divided Rivers All Progressives Congress (APC) has raised alarm on the listing of dead persons and defectors among delegates from the state accredited for Saturday’s national convention of the party. In a petition jointly signed by former Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Rivers state, Worgu Boms, Sen Abe and Sen Wilson Ake among others, the petitioners described the development as deliberate by those in charge. APC Bars Political Appointees From Voting At National Convention

The All Progressives Congress has barred political appointees from voting at its national convention holding on Saturday. The party made this known in a press statement on Thursday. The statement was titled, ‘Attention to political office holders who were elected as delegates’. Governor Nasir El-Ruffai of Kaduna State has said that he would only run for the 2023 presidency either as a presidential aspirant or a running mate to the Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi if President Muhammadu Buhari insists. El-Rufai insisted that he has no intention to run for presidency or be a running mate to Amaechi as being rumoured on social media. Fresh Voter Registration Hits 6.6 Million – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has disclosed that fresh registration in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration across the country has hit 6.6 million. The commission disclosed this in Abuja in an update on Quarter three, week nine of the CVR. The update showed that as at 7am on Monday, March 7, the fresh batch of registration reached exactly 6,615,192 million. Electoral Act: Clause on Political Appointees Will Stop Impunity – Edwin Clark

Edwin Clark, an Ijaw national leader, says the clause in the new electoral act, which requires political appointees to resign their positions before participating in party primaries, will stop “impunity”. Imo By-Election: 100 INEC Staff Abducted, Forced To Thumbprint – REC

Hundreds of ad-hoc staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Saturday’s Imo by-election for Ngor Okpala State Constituency have been abducted and taken to an unknown destination where they were forced to thumbprint on the ballot papers. The INEC Imo state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Professor Chukwuemeka Ezeonu, disclosed this Sunday while briefing newsmen on the happenings around the bye-election. The REC warned that those ballot papers from the abducted INEC ad-hoc staff, would not be accepted by the NEC. He said: “We have received the report of violence of election and disruption of polls on some polling units and attacks on our personnel.” He said that so far no casualty has been reported.
