The President, Muhammadu Buhari, has ordered all heads of agencies, departments, parastatals, and ambassadors with political ambitions to resign. In a circular obtained by The PUNCH on Thursday morning, our correspondent observed that the office of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, among other agencies was copied. A Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday refused to grant a restraining order requested by the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the Attorney General of the Federation, AGF, on his presidential ambition. Emefiele had, through his counsel, Mike Ozekhome SAN, applied for an order of status quo ante bellum to be made against INEC and AGF so that he would not be made to resign from office until 30 days to the general election. In an ex-parte application argued on Monday, Emefiele denied being a political appointee but a public servant not caught by Section 84 (12) of the new Electoral Act 2022.
