CBN Denies Emefiele’s Sacking

The Central Bank of Nigeria has denied the sack of its Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, describing the report as an unfounded rumour. It was rumoured on Wednesday morning that Emefiele had been sacked by Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, purportedly for his presidential ambition. The Punch had earlier sought clarification from the CBN’s spokesman, Mr Osita Nwanisiobi, but got no response from him. However, several papers are quoting Nwanisiobi as denying the trending report, saying, “I heard it just the way you got it too. Dino Melaye Loses PDP Senatorial Ticket

The serving House of Representative member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Tajudeen Yusuf, on Tuesday, defeated Dino Melaye, n the re-run election to pick the Kogi West Senatorial ticket of the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the election, held on Monday, ended in deadlock as both aspirants scored 88 votes respectively. However, during the runoff election on Tuesday, Mr Yusuf scored 163 votes while Mr Melaye scored 99 votes, dashing the latter’s dream of returning to the Senate in the 10th National Assembly.
