APC Governors chide Obaseki over N60bn Printing Claim

Governors under the platform of the  All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday ruled Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State off the track over his recent allegation that the federal government printed N60 billion to augment the March revenue  allocation to states. Ekiti Govt. Includes N550m Budget For drones Used To Fight Kidnapping, Banditry

Ekiti State Government has said efforts are on to procure sophisticated drones as part of efforts to boost surveillance, expose criminal hideouts and combat insecurity. Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Mr. Femi Ajayi disclosed this at the weekend during the breakdown of the 2021 Appropriation Law with a budgetary provision of N109.666 billion. He said the government projected N550 million to purchase the drones as part of plans to tackle armed robbery, banditry and kidnapping. Ajayi added that N1.4 billion has been set aside to fund the Ekiti State Security Network code-named ‘Amotekun Corps’ for the security outfit to live up to its responsibility. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Executive Committee has approved a budget of the sum of 5.6 billion Naira for the year 2021 in an executive meeting held at Conference Hotel, Abeokuta. Also, the  Executive committee, on Monday, 28th  December 2020 also approved the mooted date of Saturday, 16th January 2021 for the commencement of the Season 2020-2021 of the Nigeria National League, and Wednesday, 10th February 2021 for the commencement of the new season for the Nigeria Nationwide League One. Senate Postpones Budget Passage To Next Week

The Senate on Thursday deferred the passage of the 2021 budget till Monday, next week. Senate President Ahmad Lawan, who made this known at plenary, said the development followed new items of expenditure transmitted to the National Assembly by the Executive. He said the Committee on Finance would work through the weekend to capture the fresh requests from the executive in their 2021 Appropriation Bill report. He said the Senate would hold a special session next Monday to consider and pass the 2021 budget. Following the development, the reports of the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Fiscal Strategy Paper (FSP) as well as the 2021 Appropriation Bill 2020 earlier scheduled for presentation and consideration were deferred.
