Breaking News: Nigerian Presidential Elections may be Postponed!

There are indications that the presidential and national assembly elections slated to hold tomorrow may be postponed. News reaching us has it that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is currently in a crucial meeting with stakeholders to determine the way forward. It is suspected that the reason for this may not be unconnected with the recent logistic issues INEC has suffered in various states. It will be recalled that some INEC offices had suffered fire incidences that destroyed critical electoral materials. Details of the outcome of the meeting will be made available as they emerge.

Breaking News: Ezekwesili Drops Out of Presidential Race to Give Room for a Coalition

Dr Obiageli Ezekwesili has announced her withdrawal from the Presidential race. Her reason for withdrawing is to give room for a proper coalition that will have the muscle to defeat the People's Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress in the forth coming elections. The announcement was made through Ozioma Ubabukoh, the Obiageli Ezekwesili Presidential Campaign Organisation. According to the statement, this decision was reached after due consultations with Nigerians at home and abroad. Breaking News: Shehu Shagari Dies at 93

Nigeria's second republic President Alhaji Shehu Shagari has died at the age of 93. Shagari passed on this morning at the National Hospital Abuja after a brief illness. He became the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria when he took over from the military administration of Olusegun Obasanjo on October 1, 1979. He however only served as president till December 31st, 1983 when he was overthrown in a military coup by the current President Buhari. While announcing the death, Bello Shagari, grandson to the late Shagari said "I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja."

Breaking News: Suspended NHIS Executive Secretary Escorted into the Premises by Tear Gas Firing Policemen

Professor Usman Yusuf, the Executive Secretary for the National Health Insurance Scheme who was recently suspended was this morning escorted into the premises of the NHIS by almost 50 Policemen. Staff  of the scheme who attempted to prevent his entry were dispersed by the tear gas the policemen fired at them. The suspended Executive Secretary claims that the governing board that suspended him had no powers to do so. According to him, only the President could give such an order regarding his appointment.

The Presidential candidate for the People's Democratic Party, Abubakar Atiku has picked former governor of Anambra State, Dr Peter Obi as his running mate. He has also been in the news a lot as many supporters of Atiku have been nominating him alongside Akinwunmi Adesina and Okonjo Iweala. Nigeria: PDP Elects Atiku as its Presidential Flag Bearer

Former Vice President under the Obasanjo administration has emerged PDP's Presidential candidate. In a keenly contested primaries which saw heavy weights like Tambuwal, Dakwambo, Saraki and others, he garnered 1500 votes to emerge the winner. Nigeria's embattled Finance Minister Kemi Adeosun has reportedly resigned. There is currently no official statement to this effect, however, indications are that she has indeed resigned. It will be recalled that for over two months now, she has been the subject of a forgery scandal to which the federal government refused to comment. Breaking News: Buhari Appoints Another Northerner to Head the DSS

President Buhari has appointed Yusuf Magaji Bichi, another Northerner as the new Boss of the DSS. Following the sack of the former DSS boss, Lawal Daura by Vice President Yomi Osinbajo on Agust 7th while acting for President Buhari, a southerner, Matthew Seiyefa took up the affairs of the DSS in an acting capacity. It would be recalled that while acting, he had some disagreements with the Presidency on some of his appointments which he later had to reverse. He has now been replaced by another northerner. Nigeria this afternoon thrashed the Pirates of Seychelles 3:0. This is the Super Eagle's second match in group E of the 2019 Afican Nations Cup qualifiers. Nigeria scored the first goal through Ahmed Musa in the 15th minute of the match. Chigozie Awaziem made it two in the 34th minute when he tapped in a a ball that rebounded from the upright off an Iheanacho freekick. In the 57th minute of the second half, Odion Ighalo made it 3 from the penalty spot after was brought down in the box. Nigeria will now take on Libya on the 10th of October in Nigeria.

Amidst the political upheaval with himself and his former party the APC, the Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has declared his intention to run for President. In a simple announcement shared on social media, Saraki said "I have decided to answer the call of teeming youth who have asked me to run for President.
