Speaking with Daily Post, Osodeke said security agents should have invited Nwajiuba for questioning on how he came about N100 million. According to the ASUU Chairman: “In a normal clime, a minister should have been invited by security to show how he raised N100 million and if he had paid tax for such an amount. The President of ASUU, Prof. Emmanuel Osodeke, said these in an interview with Sunday PUNCH. He said, “ASUU participated (in election) during the period of (Prof. Attahiru) Jega and since then, we have decided we are not participating as a union in any electio...

Strike: FG May Take ASUU To Court If Reconciliation Fails – Ngige

ASUU-FG Meeting Chris Ngige, minister of labour and employment, says the federal government may consider taking the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to the industrial court if the process to resolve the strike fails. On February 14, ASUU embarked on a one-month warning strike over the non-implementation of an agreement reached with the federal government in 2020. On March 14, the union extended the strike by eight weeks following dissatisfaction with the federal government’s “disappointing” response on the matter. Amid the strike, the federal government and the leadership of ASUU have held a series of meetings, but no agreement has been reached by both sides on ending the strike. Speaking on Thursday in an interview with Channels Television, Ngige said ASUU ...

Osodeke said, “It is always funny that the government cannot raise N200bn to revamp all Nigeria’s universities annually, to world standards. The same government can raise N4trillion for fuel subs...

FG Faults UTAS, ASUU Accuses Govt Of Misplaced Priority

ASUU Leadership The Federal Government has said the non-acceptance of the University Transparency and Accountability Solution by the National Information Technology Development Agency is not a tangible reason for the Academic Staff Union of Universities to embark on strike. Speaking in an interview with one of our correspondents, the Minister of State for Education, Mr Emeka Nwajiuba, said the priority of ASUU leaders should be the welfare of their members and not on the choice of payment platform that government should use. ASUU had declared that its ongoing strike would not be suspended until the government adopted UTAS as its payment platform, implemented the renegotiated agreement, and paid all outstanding allowances. But Nwajiuba said, “They are complaining about the IPPI...
