Philip Shaibu, Deputy Governor of Edo State has alleged that deputy speaker of the state House of Assembly, Yekini Idiaye was paid N40m by the erstwhile National Chairman of the ruling All Progressive (APC), Adams Oshiomhole to support APC candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu. Prof Itse Sagay (SAN), Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, has described the return of former House of Reps Speaker, Yabuku Dogara to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) as a huge dent on the party’s image. Dogara who dumped the APC for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) prior to the 2019 general elections was led by Governor Mala Buni of Benue State to meet President Muhammadu Buhari at the state house. Yakubu Dogara former speaker of the House of Representatives, yesterday resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). Dogara dumped the PDP to return to All Progressive Congress (APC), twenty-two months after leaving the APC for PDP. Reports say his defection might be due to his conflict with Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and with 2023 in sight. The governor has however rebuffed claims of any feud with the former lawmaker.
