The Anambra State Government has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of inelegantly acting the script of those who unsuccessfully canvassed for emergency rule in the State and were thereafter, badly defeated in the November 6 Guber Election. Media reports were rife yesterday that the outgoing Governor, Willie Obiano has been placed on the Commission's watchlist as his tenure draws to an end on March 17, 2022. AnambraDecides: INEC Declares Governorship Election Inconclusive

The Anambra governorship election has been declared inconclusive by INEC. The State Returning Officer for the election, Florence Obi, the vice-chancellor of University of Calabar, who made the declaration in the early hours of Monday, around 12:20 a.m., said this was because there was no election in Ihiala Local Government Area which has over 148,000 registered voters. Charles Soludo, the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), scored a total of 103,946 votes and won the election in 18 out of the 21 local government areas of the state. Soludo Defeats Andy Uba And Ozigbo In Their LGAs

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Charles Soludo, has defeated his main contenders in their local government area. Mr. Soludo won Andy Uba of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Valentine Ozigbo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Aguata LGA, the three top contenders’ native council. Mr. Soludo, Uba, and Ozigbo had won in their respective polling units in Isuofia, Uga, and Amesi town in Aguata. Out of the 20 wards that make up the LGA, Mr Soludo won in Isuofia, Nkpologwu, Igbo-Ukwu I and II, Ekwulobia II, Umuchu I and II, among others. The Independent National Electoral Commission says it will upload election results from the 5,634 polling units to its result-viewing portal in today’s governorship poll in Anambra State. It however said collation of results would be done manually as obtained in previous elections and not with the uploaded results. The commission expressed confidence that the technological approach, designed to enhance transparency in the election management process, would boost people’s confidence in elections and enable Nigerians to view polling unit results in real time as voting ends. Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Tuesday inaugurated an ultra-modern industrial shoe-making hub equipped with modern technology at Nkwelle Ezunaka Village in Anambra. In a speech at the event, Mr. Osinbajo described the complex as a “one-stop-shop digital leather and industrial hub”. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has skipped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on the list of cleared candidates for the November 6 Anambra governorship election. A divisional police station in Awka has been attacked by unknown gunmen. Eyewitnesses say an unconfirmed number of police officers were killed. The attack which lasted more than an hour had residents scampering for safety. There hasn't been an official statement by Anambra state police command.

Seven Policemen arrested over N500,000 Extortion in Anambra

Seven policemen have been apprehended and detained by the Anambra State command over an alleged N500,000 extortion. The money has equally been returned to the owner by the Police Commissioner Monday Kuryas, who pledged to prosecute the culprits after investigations. Their arrest followed a petition from a citizen of the state. It was further gathered that the victim was an Onitsha based businessman. Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner Ezewanne released — Police

The Anambra Commissioner for Public Utilities, Mr Emeka Ezenwanne, who was kidnapped on March 31, has been released, the state Police command has confirmed. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that Ezenwanne was kidnapped by some gunmen, after a gun battle that led to the death of three police personnel.
