In a surprisingly tough match, Spain finally managed a 1:0 win over Iran with Diego Costa's 54th minute goal. The Iranians put up a fight but could not find the net. With this win, Spain and Portugal now share 4 points each with the same goals difference. World Cup: Uruguay Wins Saudi Arabia 1:0, Confirms Egypt’s Exit

Uruguay won the Saudis by a lone goal to confirm their qualification to the round of 16 and Egypt's exit from the tournament. In one of those tough permutations, Egypt would have stood a chance had Saudi Arabia won Uruguay. World Cup: Egypt Falls 1:3 to Hosts Russia

The Egyptians playing with their star player, Salah were defeated 3:1 by hosts Russia. The first half of the encounter ended goal-less but things changed when in the 47th minute, The Egyptians conceded an own goal, opening the flood gate of goals. Following the own goal in the 47th minute, Russia scored in the 59th minute through Cheryshev and again in the 3 minutes later through Dzyuba. Egypt got a consolation goal courtesy of a Salah penalty but this might not be enough to see them to the second round. Though Egypt is not technically out, they will need Uruguay to lose to both Saudi Arabia and Russia, giving Russia the full 9 points, and each of the remaining teams 3 points each. World Cup: Senegal Gives Africa its First Win

Senegal defeated Poland by 2:1 to give Africa its first win in the on-going 2018 FIFA World Cup. Senegal's first goal was put down as an own goal after a Polish defender deflected a Senegalese shot into his own net. In the 60th minute, Niang, coming back into the pitch having gone out following an injury, latched unto a defensive error to give Senegal her second goal. World Cup: Tunisia Loses 2:1 to England

England edged past Tunisia with a 2:1 score line. The match which was looking like it was going to be Africa's first result at the on-going World Cup ended up in another loss for an African team. Harry Kane had opened score for the English in the 11th minute, pouncing on a parry by the goalkeeper to tap in the first goal. Tunisia responded through Ferjani Sassi in the 35th minute via a penalty. This was the first goal by any African team so far at the on-going World Cup. Though Tunisa held on to the end of regulation time, a defensive error in the 90th minute resulted in a corner which was headed in by Harry Kane off a Maguire header. World Cup: Korea Republic Loses 1:0 to Sweden

Sweden managed a 1:0 win over Korea Republic in a match that went without a goal until the 65th minute. The goal came courtesy of a penalty that was nicely converted by the Swedish Captain, Andreas Granqvist. The Koreans were unable to get a single shot on target all true the match while the Swedes had only 4 shots on target.
