World Cup: Brazil Edges Out Mexico 2:0 to Advance to the Quarter Finals

The Samba boys beat the Mexican team by 2:0 to advance to the quarter finals of the World Cup. Both teams played out a goalless first half with the Mexicans enjoying more of the ball possession.

In the second half, Neymar put Brazil in the lead in the 51st minute while Firmino doubled the lead in the 88 minute. This put paid to Mexico’s dreams of advancing to the quarter finals.

After the match, the Mexican Coach said in his post match interview “Being able to play at such a level with a team like Brazil, it shows Mexico is a good team. We just didn’t have that extra quality they had in front of goal. We were able to play a balanced game and it says a lot about us and our style. We need to keep developing and we hope our players will come and play in Europe so they can play every weekend against the best clubs in the world, and then our national team will improve.”

Brazil will now take on the winner between Belgium and Japan.
