The Super Falcons have been eliminated from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by the competition’s host, Morocco.
Morocco eliminated the Nigeria women’s team in the semifinals at the ongoing WAFCON competition on penalty shootouts as the game ended in a draw at full time and extra time.
The first goal came in the second half, which was an own goal by falcon player Yasmin Mrabet to the advantage of the Moroccans. Four minutes later, the falcons equalized thanks to a goal scored by Sanaa Mssoudy.

Two red cards were issued to falcon players, Ayinde in the 48 minute and Rasheedat Ajibade in the 71 minute, reducing the team to nine ladies with the match ending 1-1 at full time.
Thirty minutes of extra time was added to decide the winner, which still was not enough as it ended in a goalless draw.
The match entered its final stage as the match winner was decided through penalty shootouts, by which the Atlas lionesses won 5-4.
The Moroccans are set to face South Africa in the final of the competition after shattering the dream of The Falcons to claim a 10th WAFCON title.
Although the loss, The Super Falcons have already qualified for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup set to hold in Australia and New Zealand.
