Super Falcons Fail to Qualify for 2022 WAFCON Final

The Super Falcons have been eliminated from the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) by the competition’s host, Morocco. Morocco eliminated the Nigeria women’s team in the semifinals at the ongoing WAFCON competition on penalty shootouts as the game ended in a draw at full time and extra time. The first goal came in the second half, which was an own goal by falcon player Yasmin Mrabet to the advantage of the Moroccans. Four minutes later, the falcons equalized thanks to a goal scored by Sanaa Mssoudy. President Muhammadu Buhari congratulates the Nigeria women's football team for qualifying for the 2023 Women’s World Cup, co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand. The Super Falcons qualified for the World Cup for the ninth consecutive time after Thursday's quarter-final win over the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon at the Women s Africa Cup of Nations, WAFCON 2023, holding in Morocco. WAFCON: Super Falcons Qualifies for World Cup

The Falcons are set to face Morocco in the semifinals of the Women African Cup of Nations, WAFCON after defeating the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0. Rasheedat Ajibade’s second-half header was what secured the victory for the Nigerians, after a very tough contest against the Cameroonians.
