The Egyptian goalkeeper who also became the oldest person to play at the world cup had this to say “I apologise to the Egyptian people on my behalf, and for my colleagues, after the three defeats. We tried and did not have luck – this is football. I’m proud of what I have achieved and this achievement is worthy of Egypt. I did it with all our players’ help.”

Uruguay and Russia now move on to the second round with Uruguay topping the group with 9 points and Russia coming second with 6 points.
