Coach of Napoli, Gennaro Gattuso has expressed doubt over the recovery of Nigeran striker, Victor Osimhen ahead of Sunday’s Serie A match against Benevento, African News Today has gathered.

The striker was stretched off the pitch unconscious during the closing minutes of Napoli’s 4-2 away defeat to Atlanta last Sunday.

Osimhen, 22, was rushed to the hospital after hitting his head on the ground, following a collision with Atlanta defender Christian Romero.

The club on Tuesday disclosed that Osimhen will rest for a period of few days before returning to training gradually.

Speaking ahead of the clash on Sunday, Gattuso said, “With Benevento? It’s not up to us, he’s had a head injury, he’s blacked out, and he’s up to Federation protocol on things like that, not our doctor.”

“I don’t know if he will be available on Sunday”.

The Nigerian international has notched two goals in 10 League appearances for Naples this season.
