Segun Osoba, a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, has backed national leader of his party, Bola Tinubu to contest for president in 2023.
He said the former governor of Lagos State has the right to contest for election come 2023.
He said, “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as an individual has the right to put himself forward, we have not zeroed in on an individual. Zeroing in on any individual will destroy our efforts now but Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has a right to pursue his own agenda.”
Osoba, who is a former governor of Ogun State, disclosed this on a television programme on Tuesday.
He urged the South-West to be united and present a united front if its to achieve success in the next presidential election.
Osoba noted that there is a gentleman’s agreement in the APC that the next president in 2023 will come from the South.
He went on to add there so far, though there is so much noise from the East, nobody has contacted him or other chieftains of the party to show interest in running for president in 2023.
He added, “As an elder in the party, nobody from the South-East has contacted or consulted me to lobby, to even say they are interested.”
