Abuja Court grants Sowore N20m Bail

Sahara Reporters’ publisher, Omoyele Sowore has bee granted bail by a Chief Magistrate Court in Abuja in the tune of N20m.
Sowore was granted bail alongside four other activists who were arrested with him on the New Year’s Eve in Abuja for organising a protest against bad governance. The bail sum of the other stood at N1m each.
The publisher alongside Juwon Sanyaolu, Peter Williams, Emmanuel Bulus, and Damilare Adenola are being tried for alleged unlawful assembly, criminal conspiracy, and inciting public disturbance.
Mabel Segun-Bello, Chief Magistrate of the court while delivering verdict on the bail application on Monday, granted Sowore bail in the sum of N20million and two sureties in like sum.
He also ruled that Sowore must remain in Abuja and must physically report to the court registrar every Monday and Friday pending the hearing and determination of the case against him.
Similarly, the court ordered that one of his sureties must be a civil servant not below grade level 12.
