England escaped a possible defeat to Colombia after the match went into extra time. The English team had taken the lead in the second half (having played a goalless first half) through a Harry Kane 57th minute penalty.

It looked like the English were home and dry until Colombia’s tall defender, Mina nodded in an equalizer in the 3rd minute of the 5 minute added time. This took the game into extra time.

After the additional 30 minutes, the game still ended in a stalemate, requiring a penalty shootout in which England won 4:3.
