Ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations, the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF has guaranteed that they will arrange quality international friendly matches for the team.

The assurance was issued by the NFF vice president, Seyi Akinwunmi following the postponement of the World Cup qualifiers initially scheduled to begin next month but shifted to September due to threats posed by COVID-19 and to ensure the matches are played at standard stadiums across the African continent.

Consequently, the qualifiers are billed to be played in September, October, November 2021 as well as March 2022 for the final playoffs.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria are drawn in a group that consists of Liberia, the Central African Republic and Cape Verde. They were to have hosted Liberia next month in Lagos to kick start this group stage of the qualifiers.

Reacting to the development, Akinwunmi said that the NFF are working effortlessly to ensuring that they organise quality international friendly matches for the Super Eagles.

“The NFF are doing everything possible to ensure that they keep the Super Eagles busy by organising quality international friendly matches ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and 2022 Africa Cup of Nations,” he said.
