Mohammad Dingyadi, Minister of Police Affairs has said the Imo State Police Command was overrun by gunmen because they deployed their full arsenal and came in large numbers. The Minister disclosed this on Friday when he appeared on Channels Television’s ‘Politics Today’ programme monitored by Punch. BREAKING: Tension As Gunshots Rock Police Area Command In Aba

There is currently tension in Aba commercial town in Abia State, over sounds of gunshots at the police area command, Daily Trust reports. Residents were going about their normal activities when suddenly security operatives started shooting sporadically. All roads around the police command have been barricaded and residents have been ordered back to their houses. The newspaper quoted a top police source as saying that security operatives got intelligence that the gunmen that unleashed terror on security formations in Imo State were on their way to Aba Area Command.

Some unknown gunmen have invaded the Mbieri Divisional Police Headquarters in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. The attack occurred around 1 am and the gunmen released the suspects in custody in the police facility, Punch reports. Reports also say the gunmen carted away phones belonging to suspects and the police operatives at the Division. The Nigerian Correctional Service has disclosed that six inmates returned voluntarily while 35 others declined to escape from custody after the prison in Owerri, Imo State was attacked by gunmen on Monday. How Gunmen Freed Scores of Inmates at Imo Prison

Thousands of inmates have been reportedly freed at the headquarters of the Nigerian Correctional Service, NCS, Owerri the Imo State capital by a yet to be identified gunmen in the wee hours of Monday. A yet to be identified gunmen invaded and set ablaze the correctional facility in Owerri, the Imo State capital in the early hours of Monday. Gunmen Kill Six in Osun

Some yet to be identified gunmen killed six people in the wee hours of Sunday in a village near Wasinmi, a community along Ife/Ibadan way, Osun State. Though the identities of the killers could not be obtained at the point of filing this report, police operatives, men of Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC, and Hunters Group of Nigeria were said to have been deployed in the bush in the area. Gunmen abduct Teachers, Students in Edo

Gunmen on Wednesday night invaded the National Institute of Construction Technology, Uromi, Esan Northeast Local Government Area of Edo State and abducted yet-to-be-ascertained number of teachers and students. According to a report by The Nation, the kidnappers invaded the institute on Wednesday night, amid sporadic gunshots.
