353 Nigerian Doctors Employed By UK in Three Months Amid Ongoing Strike In Nigeria

About 353 Nigerian doctors have migrated to the United Kingdom to work in the last 100 days. According to Punch, checks on the website of the General Medical Council – the body which licenses and maintains the official register of medical practitioners in the UK – showed that the GMC licensed at least 353 Nigerian-trained doctors between June 10, 2021 and September 20, 2021. The statistics also showed that between July 24, 2020 and September 21, 2021, about 862 Nigeria trained doctors were licensed in the UK despite the COVID-19 pandemic. The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, says it will soon deploy drones at Seme for effective patrol in checking smuggling activities in the border area. NCS Zone A Coordinator, Modupe Aremu, an Assistant Comptroller General, ACG, of Customs, disclosed this on Monday during a working visit to Seme Border Area Command. Abdulrasheed Bawa, Chairman of antigraft agency, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has collapsed at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall, Aso Rock Villa. Bawa was delivering a goodwill message when he suddenly stopped, staggered back to his seat, and laid down, Tribune reports. The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and other dignitaries held him and guided out of the hall after a while. Bawa was nominated as the substantive Chairman of the EFCC on February 16, 2021, and on February 24, 2021, he was confirmed by the National Assembly as the Executive Chairman. Former Deputy Senate President, Mantu Is Dead

A former Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, has died. According to Daily Trust, a family source, who confirmed the demise, said he died at a private hospital in Abuja after nine days of sickness and isolation. He said the former deputy senate president died at about 2am on Tuesday. “He fell ill about nine days ago and was receiving treatment at home but he was rushed to the hospital when there was no sign of improvement,” the source said adding that the funeral prayer would hold later on Tuesday, in Abuja. Gunmen Kidnap 15 Students Of Bakura Agriculture College, Zamfara, 4 Killed

Gunmen have abducted some students and teachers at the College of Agriculture and Animal Health in Bakura, Zamfara state. Aliyu Bakura, deputy registrar of the college, confirmed the development to BBC Hausa. “Last Sunday night around 10pm they entered and opened fire and took away 15 students and a teacher and his wife and two children,” he said. Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State, Tony Aziegbemi, have been suspended over alleged misconduct said to have caused disaffection within the party. Unknown Gunmen Attack Police Station in Awka

A divisional police station in Awka has been attacked by unknown gunmen. Eyewitnesses say an unconfirmed number of police officers were killed. The attack which lasted more than an hour had residents scampering for safety. There hasn't been an official statement by Anambra state police command.

The National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, has handed Channels Television a suspension for alleged breach of broach code. The suspension was conveyed in a letter to the Managing Director of Channels Television, issued by the Acting Director-General of the NBC, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba. According to the letter, the decision was informed by the Channels 7 pm live broadcast programme of Sunday, April 25, 2021, indicting the TV station of allowing a leader of the Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) to make secessionist and inciting declarations on air without being cautioned or reprimanded by the station.
